18 people die in the most violent crackdown yet on Myanmar coup protest


On February 28, 2021, Myanmar police opened fire on crowds of peaceful protestors, killing 18 in what’s dubbed the bloodiest day of protest since the military seized government power.

The violence broke out in multiple areas of Myanmar, including Yangon, where demonstrators in their thousands showed up to demand for the release of Aung San Suu Kyi and the reinstatement of the civilian-run government.
