8 Malaysian doubles pairs make it to French Open last 16

Eight Malaysian doubles pairs will feature in the second-round matches at the French Open championships today, which is a marked improvement from the dismal performance at last week’s Denmark Open.

Early this morning, men’s doubles pairs Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik, Goh Sze Fei-Nur Izzuddin Rumsani and Ong Yew Sin-Toh Ee Wei joined the five pairs who had booked their last 16 berths last night and on Tuesday.

They are men’s doubles pairs Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun and Wan Arif Wan Junaidi-Yap Roy King, women’s doubles duo Pearly Tan-M Thinaah, and mixed doubles pairs Chen Tang Jie-Toh Ee Wei and Goh Soon Huat-Shevon Lai Jemie.

Early this morning, world No 2 Aaron-Wooi Yik made amends for their first-round exit at the Denmark Open last week by defeating Indonesian pair Leo Rolly Carnando-Bagas Maulana in a tight game.
