Kota Kemuning assemblyman S Preakas has urged the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) to immediately allow the construction of a bund to prevent recurring floods at Taman Sri Muda.
Preakas said it was unacceptable that floods were still happening in Taman Sri Muda after the devastating floods in 2021 which killed 14 people.
He said the delays were a failure of administration and coordination, and that residents were bearing the burden of evacuations and financial losses.
“I understand the delay in construction was approved by LLM, but I urge LLM to immediately allow flood mitigation project contractors to build a bund that will block waterflow to Jalan Mantap and prepare a new drainage system to divert water flow from Kemuning Utama to Sri Muda.
“There is no longer any reason to delay this critical approval,” he said…
