Fans of the highly anticipated season 2 of Netflix’s Bridgerton were beyond upset when it was confirmed that The Duke of Hastings portrayed by the suave and talented actor Regé-Jean Page will be stepping down from his role and bidding his goodbyes to pursue blockbuster films instead.
However, fret not the streaming giant’s actress Phoebe Dynevor, who plays Daphne Bridgerton opened up about what’s to come for her character, especially following Regé-Jean Page’s exit. In an interview with The Wrap, Dynevor shared that season two is “definitely different.”
As many would know the new season will focus on Anthony Bridgerton (Jonathan Bailey) finding love. Thus, Daphne and Simon’s love story will take a backseat, which is also the other reason why Page departed the series. However, even though the Duke of Hastings will not appear in the new season, he certainly will not be forgotten.
“I think he’ll definitely be referred to a lot. I think we’ll see the baby,” Dynevor teased. “And we’ll just focus more on her relationship with the Bridgerton family.”
So, maybe, just maybe, we can hope for a cameo by Page in the future.
In future seasons and episodes of the appraised show, Phoebe said that the joy of the show in the long term will be to see different love stories play out. According to the novels by Julia Quinn which the show is heavily based on, each season shows different Bridgerton sibling’s love stories and focuses on them. Phoebe also added that no two seasons will be the same and that they will each have different exciting elements.
