Capcom Beat Nintendo When It Introduced An Official Mega Man Maker Back in 2006


In 2006, the Mega Man games were in a state of limbo. While the original hasn’t received a new entry since Mega Man 8 on 32-bit consoles, the Mega Man X games were losing steam due to their middling conversion into 3D.

 

With Mega Man Legends seemingly wiped from the face of the Earth, the only Mega Man sub-series that was doing well was the Battle Network games, which was a huge departure from the originals as they were action-RPGs instead of side scrolling run-and-guns.
