today8 December 2020

K-pop musician Chungha has tested positive for COVID-19, but she promises her fans that she’ll be back to work in no time. As noted by Soompi, both Chungha and her agency shared the news of her diagnosis online, with Chungha leaving a special message for fans.

“I’m leaving this post in case you get too worried if I don’t say anything,” she wrote. “I’m sorry and sorry again. I tried to be careful, but I guess it wasn’t enough. I was also urgently notified today and just found out. I’ll return again and promote good health!” She urged her fans to continue prioritizing their health and safety amidst the virus too. “Our Byulharang [fan group] should also be careful and careful once more! Don’t worry too much, and let’s meet soon!! Once again, I’m sorry.”

In a statement, Chungha’s agency MNH Entertainment explained that the star had come into contact with someone with COVID-19 and got tested. Her results came back positive, and she entered self-quarantine. “Chungha halted all of her activities and immediately entered self-quarantine, and she is taking the necessary measures instructed by health authorities,” they shared. Chungha’s team will also be tested and quarantined if necessary.

The Korea Herald reports that Chungha was set to release a single, “X,” this week, and her first album, Querencia, is anticipated to launch next month. Her diagnosis comes on the heels of a wave of positive cases among K-pop musicians, and spikes in South Korea generally; the Herald writes that “members of UP10TION and EVERGLOW have been confirmed to have the virus” as well.

Get well soon, Chungha! We’re sending you lots of good vibes.
