Unfortunately, we’re going to have to nip this one in the bud from the start: Zain “Zayn” Javadd Malik and Jelena Noura “Gigi” Hadid are not married.
Parents to baby Khai, Zayn and Gigi, have yet to wed since getting together in 2015. As a result, fans and reporters alike have been waiting for the duo to announce their status as Mr. & Mrs. so when singer Ingrid Michaelson – who recently collaborated with the former One Direction member on the duet ‘To Begin Again’ – seemed to have alluded to the fact that Zayn and Gigi are married, the news spread like wildfire.
During a live session on Instagram, Michaelson had been expressing her gratitude to the ‘Pillowtalk’ singer for agreeing to be a part of the song, when she let slip:
“He’s such a private person and now he’s married and has a child so, he does the things he wants to do.”
Because Michaelson’s collaboration with Zayn is a recent one, people took her word for it and, almost immediately, “ZAYN IS MARRIED” started trending on Twitter.

There was a silver wedding ring on his finger the day Zayn showed Khai . Also Gigi was seen wearing the same ring a few times at the same time. A few days ago I thought Zayn might have gotten married, but Ingrid explains it. OH MY GODD #zaynismarried #GigiHadid #ZaynMalik

Hold up, what? Yeap. Not long after the “news” picked up steam, Michaelson quickly issued an apology and corrected herself.
“As far as I know, he’s not married. It was a mistake. I’m so sorry. I don’t live in this world. So the level of fame, it makes me really, truly admire Zayn and anybody with that level of fame. Every little thing you say is just, Wow! I’m not built for it.”
The 41-year-old also apologised to the couple, who were sure to have been caught off-guard by the situation.
“My apologies to Zayn and Gigi, if any of this trickles to you and is annoying. I’m sorry — that’s not my intention. And to his fans, I’m sorry for getting you all riled up, and much love to you all. And I’m gonna go to sleep now.”
And there you have it, folks, we are still left in the dark as to whether the talented pair are husband and wife. But – at least we know that they’re raising their daughter right and that, even if they don’t have matching rings, they’ve got matching tattoos! As for Michaelson, her funny slip up has prepped us for what may come in the future and we now know how we’ll react, LOL.
