Seems like Jared Padalecki, who played the younger Winchester for 15 seasons and saw the series to its end, will not be included in the new Supernatural spin-off.

And unlike his on-screen brother Jensen Ackles who happily posted a tweet regarding the new project called The Winchesters which includes his involvement as executive producer as well his reprisal as Dean Winchester in the form of a narrator, Padalecki took to his Twitter account to express his disappointment over his exclusion.
Dude. Happy for you.
Wish I heard about this some way other than Twitter.
I’m excited to watch, but bummed that Sam Winchester had no involvement whatsoever. https://t.co/bAcEvFKM7p— Jared Padalecki (@jarpad) June 25, 2021
A fan tweeted,
HELPPP this feels like an awkward family dinner ?
— tahlia (@yeunfiIms) June 25, 2021
However, another fan theorised that this could all just be a prank.
What I think is happening is he’s joking since he made two tweets about it and he’s gonna be in it and they’re both pranking fans since Misha said something similar about not being notified

But how would they explain Padalecki’s response to a since-deleted tweet asking if it was a joke….?
No.
It’s not.
This is the first I’ve heard about it.
I’m gutted. https://t.co/1i8eC8YAdV— Jared Padalecki (@jarpad) June 25, 2021
The Winchesters is reported to centre on the parents of Dean and Sam Winchester (played by Padalecki) and is currently in development. The plot will capture the epic, untold love story of how John met Mary before being forced to put it all on the line not only to save their love but the rest of the world.
Ackles’s wife, Danneel will also be coming back to the cast. Not only that, the show is also written/executive produced by another Supernatural alum, former co-executive producer Robbie Thompson. With so many familiar faces, it is no wonder that Padalecki would feel upset.
“After Supernatural wrapped its 15th season, we knew it wasn’t over. Because like we say in the show, ‘nothing ever really ends, does it?’” Ackles told Deadline. “When Danneel and I formed Chaos Machine Productions, we knew the first story we wanted to tell was the story of John and Mary Winchester, or rather the Supernatural origin story. I always felt like my character, Dean, would have wanted to know more about his parents’ relationship and how it came to be. So I love the thought of having him take us on this journey.”
Who knows, maybe Padalecki will turn up as a guest star or have a cameo! Let’s not give up hope just yet.
