K-Pop Idols Who You May Not Have Known Were Once Backup Dancers

It’s safe to say die-hard K-Pop fans are all familiar with the pre-debut process that every Korean artist you know today has gone through. Before an idol makes their debut, they typically train for years with their company or label in order to increase their singing skills, performance ability and to polish their skills in all aspects of becoming a K-Pop idol. While this is usually done behind the scenes at most times and the trainee won’t appear on stage until their debut, however, exposure never hurts anyone right? There have been a number of exceptions to this! In addition to their rigorous training, some artists had experiences as backup dancers for other artists. So here it is, singers who were backup dancers before debuting as K-Pop icons!

1. Shownu – Monsta X

CUT. Shownu (Lee Hyori) - Bad Girls (20'S CHOICE 2013)

Talented Shownu was a backup dancer for Lee Hyori, and her song Bad Girls.

2. S.Coups – SEVENTEEN

S.Coups is no stranger to the training world as the singer was a backup dancer for multiple groups, one of them being After School.

3. J-Hope & Jungkook – BTS

Before they were BTS members, J-Hope and Jungkook were backup dancers for Jokwon.

4. Lay – EXO

Lay was a backup dancer for SHINee and their song Ring Ding Dong.

5. Lee Know – Stray Kids

Lee Know was a backup dancer for BTS.

6. Eunbi – IZ*ONE
