Well, this exploded.
Netizens today have gone berserk when a Twitter user @PurpleProject7 posted a tweet sharing the lyrics to a song by K-Pop star Jay Park. In it, Park uses the name ‘Allah’ in the lyrics of the song MUKKBANG! (Remix), released on December 4, 2020.
Any of my followers, if you’re fans of Jay Park, please unfollow me. This guy crossed so many lines before. This is too much. Rude and ignorance simply an understatement for him. pic.twitter.com/KUYJB0DayG

Looking at tweets from netizens, many have expressed their disappointment in Jay Park – and Malaysian rapper Joe Flizzow, for working with the South Korean rapper afterwards (the duo released ‘CIAO’ later on in January 2021).
jay park wrote the rap part himself. i knew he was problematic but really, this is too much. bro you can pick or diss anyone, not my Allah or ANY RELIGION. idk how this suddenly blew up, cause “Mukkbang” has been released since dec 2020. ffs joe flizzow collab with him after that

Allah is not just someone that you can compare with human at any reference… He’s not like how you’re praying after the name of Jesus nor Muhammad pleaseee Jay Park don’t be so ignorant. And Joe Flizzow backing him up ✋ He deserves to be bashed on because of his ignorance… https://t.co/nkMNNO9ncB

Since being called out, Jay Park has released a statement on Twitter.

It’s important for us to be educated about religion and the culture of others. What may mean one thing to us, might mean something else for others. Respecting these boundaries will guide us to a healthier relationship amongst people.
Correction: An earlier version of this article (posted on the 27th of May 2021 at 16:33) claimed that Joe Flizzow himself had addressed the situation. This is not true as the rapper was instead referring to Jay Electronica’s mention of Allah in the song, “Twisted Dreams”. We sincerely apologise for the oversight and extend our thanks to those who informed us of the discrepancy.
