Hamzah stays as opposition leader, says Muhyiddin

There has been speculation of a feud between Bersatu president Muhyiddin Yassin and his deputy, Hamzah Zainudin, although both have denied that their relationship has soured.

Bersatu deputy president Hamzah Zainudin will continue serving as leader of the opposition in the Dewan Rakyat, says Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin.

Muhyiddin, the Bersatu president, denied speculation that Hamzah would be replaced by vice-president Radzi Jidin, insisting that the status quo remains.

“No such thing. There’s no change,” he told reporters briefly after campaigning for PN’s candidate for the Pantai Dalit in the Sabah state election.

Nineteen Bersatu MPs, including Muhyiddin, convened at the former prime minister’s home on Tuesday night for a high-profile meeting amid an apparent leadership tussle with Hamzah.
