
A government MP has questioned how a man wanted under the Security Offences (Special Measures) Act 2012 (Sosma) was able to roam freely before he was shot dead in his car, in Klang, last week.
Kepong MP Lim Lip Eng questioned whether the police were aware of the whereabouts of the deceased, who had a criminal record for several offences.
“If a wanted person can freely move around in the middle of a city, it exposes clear weaknesses in the police’s operations and surveillance.
“It also raises another question: how many other people wanted by the authorities are still freely living like ordinary people across the country?” he said in a statement.
Lim said Malaysians deserved an explanation from Bukit Aman in order to reassure their security. Failing to do so would only reduce their confidence in the police force, he added.
