Indie Horror Film ‘Roh’ Sweeps 31st Malaysia Film Festival, Wins 6 Awards Including Best Film

The much delayed 31st Malaysia Film Festival (FFM31) was finally held last week, 10 December, with the Oscars-submitted film Roh emerging as the biggest winner, taking home 6 awards.

Produced by Kuman Pictures and directed by first-time filmmaker Emir Ezwan, the horror thriller nabbed Best Screenplay, Best Costume Design, Best Musical Score, Best Child Actress (Putri Qaseh), Best Supporting Actress (Junainah M. Lojong), and the festival’s top prize – Best Film.

FFM31, which honours the best local films released in 2019, was originally scheduled for April 18, 2020, but was postponed due to the ongoing pandemic.

This edition of the festival saw 55 entries, with almost half of the entries being in the Malay language, including Roh.
