Jenna Ortega Says “Wednesday” Season 2 Will Be “Horror-Inspired”

Looks like the next season of Wednesday Addam’s adventures will be a little more horror-inspired!

Main star Jenna Ortega explains that this new season was directly inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s The Masque of the Red Death, and if you’re familiar with Mike Flanagan’s miniseries The Fall of the House of Usher, you’d remember that one of the episodes is based on that classic as well.

“I think the feel that we’re going for is a little bit more horror-inspired,” Ortega said. “Not to say that suddenly we’re the goriest show of all time. I mean, there [are] six-year-olds watching.”

This Addams Family spin-off focuses on their daughter Wednesday, known for her sullen (and murderous) personality, as she enrolls into Nevermore Academy. In this iteration of the Wednesday character, she is a gifted psychic and takes it upon herself to track down monsters around the campus.
