PSM leadership to decide on proposed tie-up with PN

The top leadership of Parti Sosialis Malaysia will discuss a proposal for the party to forge ties with Perikatan Nasional to avoid seat clashes, PSM chairman Dr Michael Jeyakumar Devaraj said.

Jeyakumar told FMT the proposal will be decided at a central committee meeting to be convened soon.

“Nonetheless, PSM maintains a firm stand against race-based and religious politics,” he said.

He was asked to comment on Perak PSM exco member K Kunasekaran’s call yesterday for the party to forge an electoral pact with PN.

Kunasekaran said entering into an alliance to coordinate seats and avoid three-cornered fights did not mean the party was compromising its socialist ideals.
