The famous video game adaptation, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, has a sequel in the works, as confirmed by Nintendo!
During a recent Mario Day event, it was also revealed that The Super Mario Bros. Movie 2 is set to land in theatres in April 3, 2026. The confirmation was made by Nintendo exec Shigeru Miyamoto and Illumination CEO/founder Chris Meledandri.
“We’ll let you know the details once we’re ready to share more. This time too, the staff at Illumination and Nintendo are working together. We’re thinking about broadening Mario’s world further, and it’ll have a bright and fun story.”
In fact, there are also hints that the project could be more than just a sequel to The Super Mario Bros. Movie, and instead will expand the world and the franchise as a whole. Are you ready for it? Stay tuned!
