Yesterday, Laverne Cox presented the Outstanding Writing in a Drama Series Award during the Emmys ceremony and you might have noticed that her opening speech was randomly cutted off because… God knows what.
Here’s a recap of her speech, “Good evening everyone. I am living proof of the American dream. That anyone in this country can lose the Emmy four years in the same category and yet somehow end up on this stage presenting an award to someone who probably didn’t—” ~yup. It stopped there~

Her mic then went back on and she continued her speech, “What happens to an American dream deferred? Does it shrivel up like a raisin in the sun? Stick to the script Laverne, stick to the script. And now here are the nominees for Writing in a Drama Series.”
Obviously, Twitter stans aren’t having it.
Can we talk about Laverne’s censored segment on the Emmy’s last night? What just happened exactly

Sooooo, what exactly did she say that the Emmys decided to censor her? Turns out.. She ain’t even swearing, folks! Laverne actually said “presenting an award to someone who probably didn’t effing vote for me.”
The Television Academy hasn’t explained why Laverne’s mic was unnecessarily cut, but they did share her full unedited speech online, so watch below:
