Police have recorded 68 witness statements in their reopened investigation into the 2013 death of tahfiz student Wan Ahmad Faris Wan Abdul Rahman, says home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

Saifuddin said the investigation is being conducted in response to demands by Wan Ahmad Faris’s family and the public to ensure the previous investigation was transparent and followed the set SOPs, so justice can be upheld.

“The investigation is ongoing,” he said in a written parliamentary reply to Ahmad Fadhli Shaari (PN-Pasir Mas), who asked about the full status of the reinvestigation, saying transparency was vital to avoid doubt and to ensure justice for the victim’s family.
