Chegubard released on police bail after sedition probe
Bersatu leader Badrul Hisham Shaharin has been released on police bail after being questioned over alleged sedition during a political ceramah in Bagan Serai, Perak, on Sept 1.
Badrul, known as Chegubard, shared the update in a Facebook post yesterday, saying he was brought before a magistrate after police applied for a four-day remand.
He said his lawyer, Rafique Rashid Ali, opposed the request.
“The magistrate rejected the remand application around 11am, and I was released on police bail after my statement was recorded,” he said.
Badrul was arrested at 10.25pm on Friday night after police detected a Sept 4 social media posting on TikTok, which had gone viral, showing Badrul delivering the speech.
