
Malaysians’ concern for the plight of the Palestinians may have been misunderstood by certain parties, Inspector-General of Police Khalid Ismail said today.
Responding to a claim that Malaysia had been hosting Hamas operatives, he said Malaysia’s aid to Palestine was based on religion.
“As our nation is a Muslim nation, the Palestinian struggle is close to the hearts of Malaysians.
“In my view, the concern shown by our citizens may have been misunderstood by certain parties,” he said in a press conference at Bukit Aman here.
Khalid said Malaysia continued to maintain good ties with the US, and was continuously exchanging information to obtain early intelligence for effective future actions.
