
National men’s doubles shuttlers Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik failed to make it to the finals of the French Open, losing to Indonesian pair Fajar Alfian-Muhammad Shohibul Fikri early this morning.
The world No 2 pair were sent packing by the seventh-ranked Indonesians in straight games of 14-21, 19-21 in 40 minutes in their semi-final match at the Glaz Arena in Cesson-Sevigne.
Aaron-Wooi Yik have now lost both their encounters against Fajar-Shohibul to date. They were also beaten in straight games at the China Open in July.
Despite their defeat, the Malaysians took home US$13,300 (RM56,200) for reaching the semi-finals of the World Tour Super 750 championships.
