
The broadcasting department, under the communications ministry, has apologised after an RTM commentator stated the wrong name for the Indonesian president during the live coverage of the 47th Asean Summit in Kuala Lumpur.
In a statement, the department said an internal investigation found that the commentator had erroneously referred to the president of the republic as Joko Widodo instead of the current president, Prabowo Subianto.
“RTM extends its sincere apologies to the president and government of the Republic of Indonesia, as well as to all parties affected by this mistake.
“RTM views this matter seriously, and appropriate action has been taken,” the department said in a statement.
