
The PKR candidates for the coming Sabah state election have signed an agreement against jumping ship should they win their seats, or risk paying a RM10 million fine.
“Each candidate has signed a pledge, backed by a RM10 million bond, should they betray the party,” PKR secretary-general Fuziah Salleh said in a statement this evening.
Earlier, PKR president Anwar Ibrahim announced the party’s 10 candidates for the Nov 29 polls.
In 2020, PKR sued former vice-president Zuraida Kamaruddin, claiming that she had breached a contractual bond by joining Bersatu following the Sheraton Move in February that year.
The terms of the bond required Zuraida to pay PKR RM10 million within seven days if she resigned from the party to join another political party or became an independent MP.
