It’s elder sister vs younger brother in Kukusan
An elder sister and a younger brother are contesting against each other for the Kukusan seat in the Sabah state assembly election after being on opposing sides since 2018.
When Ma’mun Sulaiman contested the Kalabakan parliamentary seat for Warisan in 2018 and 2022, his elder sister Chaya was on the team of his Barisan Nasional rivals. He won in 2018 but was defeated in 2022.
Kukusan is a state seat within the Kalabakan parliamentary constituency.
Chaya, who is the BN candidate for Kukusan, said her contest against Ma’mun and their differing political ideals will not affect their relationship.
“Family members contesting against each other in elections in Kalabakan is nothing new,” she said, Bernama reported.
