Police-Linked Criminal Cases Hit 463, Three-Year High In 2025

The number of criminal cases involving police personnel has continued to climb over the past three years, reaching 463 cases in 2025.
Deputy Home Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah said records from the Royal Malaysia Police’s Integrity and Standards Compliance Department showed 378 cases in 2023, increasing to 407 in 2024 before rising again last year.
He also revealed that deaths in police custody had increased during the same period, with 12 cases reported in 2023, 13 in 2024, and 22 in 2025.
Complaints received by the Independent Police Conduct Commission (IPCC) also saw a sharp rise, growing from 100 in 2023, to 338 in 2024, and 388 in 2025.
