Designated Survivor stars Kiefer Sutherland in the starring role as Thomas Kirkman, an American politician who was serving as a designated survivor for the State of Union address when suddenly the Capitol is bombed and kills everyone including the President and everyone in his line of success. So Thomas Kirkman finds himself promoted from being the U.S. Secretary of Housing and Urban Development to the President of The United States. The show also stars Kal Penn and Maggie Q among others.

 

House Of Cards

IMDB rating: 8.7/10

House of Cards is an adaption of the 1990 BBC miniseries that shares the same name and is based on the 1989 novel by Michael Dobbs. The show stars Kevin Spacey as Congressman Frank  Underwood and Robin Wright who plays his wife Claire Underwood. Frank Underwood is a Democrat from South Carolina’s 5th congressional district  and House Majority Whip and he gets passed over as Secretary of State so he hatches a plan to attain power with the help of his wife.

 

Homeland

IMDB rating: 8.3/10

Homeland stars Claire Danes as Carrie Mathison who plays a CIA officer who has bipolar disorder and Damien Lewis as Nicholas Brody, who plays a Marine Corps Scout Sniper. Nicholas Brody was help captive by a militant organisation as a prisoner of war and Carrie Mathison is convinced that he has gone over to the enemy’s side and thus poses a threat to the United States.

 

Bodyguard

IMDB rating: 8.1/10

Bodyguard is a six-part series that features Richard Madden as Police Sergeant David Budd; a British Army war veteran who suffers from PTSD. He is currently working for the Royalty and Specialist Protection Branch of London’s Metropolitan Police Service. He is assigned as the principal protection officer for Julia Montague (played by Keeley Hawes) who is Home Secretary and whose politics David Budd hates.
