The excitement one can feel from finally seeing someone you like, respect and/or admire (that you’ve only seen through a screen) in real life can be overwhelming. Often, this can lead to less-than-considerate reactions that may impose on the persons’ personal space and private time. Malaysian actor Fizo Omar recently experienced one such instance and shared it on his social media, tweeting:
“How would you feel if, while you’re eating, someone tells you to go to their table to take a picture?”
Taking to his Instagram, Omar (born Wan Hafizol bin Wan Omar) addressed the tweet in a long caption. Acknowledging that being a public figure, it’s natural to be approached by fans and supporters (for which he is grateful) but…
“But have common sense – if you’re eating or in the middle of something serious, and someone comes up to you while instructing you, ‘You go to that table for a minute, we want to take a picture,’. You’re just scooping up food (whatmore you’re hungry after being unable to eat earlier)… hmmmm … how would you react???”
The 35-year-old ex-Hero Remaja went on to clarify that he is more than happy to take pictures with fans and to sign autographs but it would also depend on the situation.
“Even if the person were not a celebrity, being told to go here and there to take pictures would spoil their eating time. I also understand that from the fans point of view – it’s not that they lack manners – sometimes the excitement gets the better of them when they meet someone they admire.”
Kelantan state-level football representative’s statement serves as a reminder to the public to respectfully approach other individuals as, at the end of the day, everyone is human and has their own lives to juggle.
