Just as she did in her last album 2019’s ‘Norman F****** Rockwell!’, Elizabeth Woolridge Grant’s (aka Lana Del Rey’s) latest album, ‘Chemtrails Over the Country Club’ continues the poetic narrative of critiquing culture and, as the Rolling Stones says, “soundtracks the death of the American dream right from the heart of Hollywood”. Del Rey has highlighted how the album is a deeply personal one, with references to the double standards for women in the music industry, and her “stunning girlfriends, who so much of the album is about, and [her] beautiful siblings”. The 11-track album dropped just recently, on March 19, but – great ready because – Del Rey’s eighth studio album, ‘Rock Candy Sweet’, is set for release on June 1, 2021.

Not much is known about her upcoming album, which the singer announced via Instagram Stories after responding to a Harper’s Bazaar article titled “Lana Del Rey Can’t Qualify Her Way Out of Being Held Accountable,” after multiple issues with cultural appropriation. In her post, she wrote:
“Just want to say thank you again for the kind articles like this one and for reminding me that my career was built on cultural appropriation and glamorizing domestic abuse. I will continue to challenge those thoughts on my next record on June 1 titled Rock Candy Sweet.”
Fans are, obviously, ecstatic commenting on a post with her image and the words “Rock Candy Sweet”:
“HELP YOU WERE NOT JOKING,”
“ARE YOU PULLING A TAYLOR SWIFT,”
“LANA GIVE US TIME TO BREATHE,”
The closeness in release dates between ‘Chemtrails and ‘Rock Candy Sweet’ could have something to do with the fact that ‘Chemtrails’ was delayed because of issues with vinyl production (due to the COVID-19 pandemic). Initially going by the working title, ‘White Hot Forever’, the album was meant to be released on September 5, 2020. Also under consideration at the time was whether or not the track ‘Dealer’ would be included on the album. As we now know, it isn’t in ‘Chemtrails’ so we may instead be seeing it in ‘Rock Candy Sweet’? In any case, with ‘Chemtrails’ earning reviews as rave as ‘Norman F****** Rockwell!’, it looks like 2021 may be Lana Del Rey’s year!
While we wait for her NEW new album, enjoy the masterpiece that is the title track, ‘Chemtrails Over The Country Club’:
