Music may seem simple when you’re listening to it from your earphones, but that’s the beauty of the art for musicians. To produce something of such great quality to the point that it seems effortless.
Maybe the taste of music for this younger generation focuses on different criteria to label the art as ‘great’. Even creative lyrics may not be part of the checklist.
This was the case for this particular TikTok famous singer who released a song that listeners felt did not reach the standard that music should be.

The song titled, “Aku Budak Girl” by TikTok famous @suekhaizhar at the time of writing has gotten over 2 million views and is trending on the music charts at number 2, which seems fantastic until you read the comments.

“It’s so easy to become a singer nowadays. Let’s see next year if she’s still around.”

“Many views does not necessarily mean quality, might even ruin the industry.”

“Seriously Malaysia’s music generation is ruined. Music that sounds good with melody and a talented singer doesn’t get views, but a whacky song? Who knows why, the views are crazy.”

The viewer above might even have a point, as despite the video performing well in terms of views, it also has a high dislike rate, with over 126,000, over the 60,000 likes.

Netizens also had a few things to say about the song after it went viral on Twitter.
“Many views because she’s good-looking.”
view banyak sebab dia goodlooking

“Nowadays with looks, popularity, and money, you can do anything.”
Zaman sekarang ade rupa, populariti, duit boleh buat apa??

However, this fellow netizen had a different view of things.
“If you don’t like (certain entertainment), don’t give it attention. When you search, mention, hate-watch, comment, it’s no surprise that the ‘horrible’ content will go viral.”
Jika tidak suka (sesuatu keluaran hiburan), jangan diberi perhatian.
Bila kita search, mention, hate-watch, comment, memanglah yang ‘kelaut’ tu akan viral. https://t.co/LuSTnOnRKy

So, do you think ‘bad’ content going viral is inevitable due to our own actions?
