Wanna date some sexy beasts? No, really.
Netflix’s new dating series, Sexy Beasts — narrated by Catastrophe star and comedian Rob Delaney, is about to take blind dates to a whole new level. The streamer has signed on for two seasons of this show, where contestants will go on blind dates as various animals and mythical creatures through the use of Hollywood movie prosthetics. Some might find this bizarre, but for some, this is a fantasy come true!

Speaking to Variety, Simon Welton – creator and executive producer of the show – said:
“The viewers are in for a real treat. I hope the show puts a smile on peoples’ faces as they play along to discover who’ll fall in love with who and what our cast all really look like.”
A Netflix Twitter account posted a hilarious tweet touching on the… uh… interspecies relationship between Donkey and Dragon from Shrek.

The company has already found success in the reality genre thanks to last year’s break-out hit, Love Is Blind. The dating show, in which contestants don’t set eyes upon each other until after they get engaged, was a social media sensation before the pandemic. Netflix announced soon after its premiere that it and another reality competition, The Circle, had both been renewed for two more seasons.
Over the two seasons, 48 unique makeup designs were created, with each designed especially for the show’s contributors by prosthetic artist Kristyan Mallet, a leading FX artist who has worked on everything from Mission Impossible to The Theory of Everything. The show is based on Lion TV’s original British series for the digital channel BBC Three in 2014, which has spawned one season, including two Valentine’s special episodes.
So this begs the question: does looks really matter when you have tons of chemistry? 🙂
