DO you sometimes think that the life you’re living today falls depressingly short of the one you dreamt of as a child? I was 31 years old in 1995 when I left a high paying job in Kuala Lumpur as an investment analyst for Standard Chartered Securities to venture into business for the first time.

WHEN it comes to looking financially successful, there are so many arbitrary metrics till it’s easy for us to become disorientated. The world shouts out its disparate messages of real value, perceived value, and outright fake value so loudly that only those who know themselves well have any chance of staying on the straight and narrow path to significance without meandering down an off-road ramp to mediocrity, distraction or oblivion.

THERE is a definite state at the terminus of each life’s journey that almost all of us rather irrationally refuse to consider.

HOW much can we truly understand about any person? If you’ve never mulled over that question before, your answer may surprise you. While it’s possible to know close family and friends well, we can never wholly “know” another person.

OUR world is filled with all sorts of people: The good and bad, the focused and distracted, the kind and cruel, and every shade in between.

HALF of January has evaporated, yet we still have about 95 per cent of this year to pursue — and attain — goals of promise and significance.
