
Automated gates will be installed at the country’s border entry points under the supervision of the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) beginning in the second quarter of next year, said home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.
He said the use of the technology will minimise physical interactions at border counters, streamline processes, and help address integrity issues.
“This initiative is a key step towards strengthening border control, curbing smuggling activities, and managing refugee-related issues within the country,” he said.
He was speaking as a panellist at the 8th Forum Ilmuwan Malaysia Madani chaired by Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in Kuala Lumpur.
