Azmin Ali should take the lead in resolving Bersatu’s faction-related problems, analysts said, adding that his position as secretary-general is critical to the party’s survival as it heads towards the 16th general election.
Syaza Shukri of International Islamic University Malaysia said Azmin, a former Selangor menteri besar, must take proactive measures to unite the party and ensure his political relevance.

“Azmin, just like party president Muhyiddin Yassin, needs to take the lead in unifying the party and putting forward policy ideas that resonate with voters,” she told FMT.
“He should be taking proactive measures because he has the experience. People want to see what Bersatu has to offer. As secretary-general, he could take the lead and place himself as a possible replacement for Muhyiddin in the future,” she added.
