“Bumblebee” will serve as the official reboot of the Transformers franchise.
It was unclear as to how Travis Knight’s critically-acclaimed film would connect to Michael Bay’s previous five Transformers films, but Hasbro has finally set the franchise on a bright new path.
During the New York Toy Fair, the Transformers popular fansite TFW2005 said, Hasbro confirmed that “Bumblebee” is the beginning of “a new storytelling universe.” Which could mean that the success of the newest Transformers film would to lead to a whole new continuity for the future Transformers films.
Although the recent reboot did not do so well commercially as previous Transformers films, “Bumblebee” still passed $100 million at the domestic box office.
The “Bumblebee” sequel is reportedly to be in the works and in the early stages of development.
