
Police have recovered 200 casino chips worth RM2 million, part of a larger haul of 300 chips stolen from Genting Highlands in Bentong on Aug 2.
Pahang police chief Yahaya Othman said a man came forward to hand over the casino chips following a media report on the matter on Friday.
He had bought the chips, each valued at RM10,000, from the suspect, a casino “junket”.
“The man, who is also a junket at the casino, purchased the 200 chips from the suspect at the Genting Grand lobby on Aug 2 without any written agreement,” Yahaya said at a press conference here today.
He said that police, in cooperation with Interpol, were tracking down the suspect, who had fled the country with the remaining 100 chips worth RM1 million.
