[EXCLUSIVE]: “Despicable Me 4”; They Are Superheroes Now!

today4 July 2024

Bet you didn’t see that coming!

Because yes, our favourite yellow little minions have now mutated and gained superpowers! Think levitation, laser eyes, super-durability, and the likes – but please don’t be mistaken, this is not the main plot of the film!

The film begins with Gru (Steve Carell) and his family being forced to relocate with hidden identities as part of a protection program (with the minions, too!). The family tries to fit in in their new neighbourhood, with Gru stepping into his role as a dad, wife Lucy dabbling into a new career (or something like that), and the kids starting over at a new school.

And there is something wrong with the next-door-neighbour, too…

It’s reminiscent of The Incredibles for its family values, and you may draw a few parallels between the former’s Jack-Jack and Despicable Me 4’s Gru Jr. Some scenes in the film also read like spoofs of James Bond films, as well as DC and Marvel superheroes – but all in good fun, of course.

Overall, this makes an entertaining family fun time with fast-moving plot and plenty of entertaining bits in between, guaranteed to make the little ones (and even adults) guffaw at the absurdity.

Steve Carell and Will Ferrel lend their excellent voice talent as they face off as nemesis, while the minions remain their usual goofy selves, bumbling around and getting into hilarious antics.

Take your children or your niblings to the nearest cinema near you!
