Do it for the ‘gram?
A Twitter user recently questioned the standard operating procedure (SOP) for Covid-19 vaccinations, claiming that only influencers and artists have been allowed to document their vaccination process. Seeming slighted by what he feels is unfair treatment, the user inserted photos of influencers who managed to record themselves getting their jabs.

(“Do you notice that influencers and artists are allowed to record themselves getting vaccinated? But the rest of us with “non-famous faces” suddenly have to abide by MEDICAL PROCEDURE, and NOT ALLOWED TO RECORD. How can you choose who gets to record and who doesn’t? Standardise the rules!”)
The user also ‘quote retweeted’ other tweets that agreed with him.
“True… I can’t even take a picture of my parents getting vaccinated to show to my siblings as proof.”
“That’s right. Some of us even got scolded by RELA.”
“Haha I thought the same as well! Then again, it is Malaysia, right…?”
This sparked a heated online discussion, prompting another user to step forward with a differing testimonial.
Netizens replied to his tweet, theorising that maybe the rules differ from one vaccination centre to another.
“Apparently, some places allow recording while some don’t. IINM and UM don’t allow recording during vaccination.”
“From the replies, it looks like a mixed response. I’ve never heard of people from IDCC having issues recording their vaccination. What a weird SOP.”
“Maybe some of the staff are not sure regarding the SOP. So if the public requests to record, they just allow it.”
“So it’s due to the SOP of the PPVs? Nothing to do with whether or not someone is an influencer?”
“I think it’s the staff enforcement as well. These influencers or whoever might keep pestering and say, “Just let me record, okay? It won’t include your face,” and so the staff ends up giving in.”
Let’s not allow this to distract us from the purpose of getting vaccinated in the first place: to achieve herd immunity as well as to protect ourselves and each other from the spread of the Covid-19 virus. It s important to note the steps leading up to and following the vaccination process and what you need to have with you (bring your IC/passport, portable charger, water, extra pens). JKJAV is constantly updating and sharing information with regards to the process, so do refer to them when in doubt!
