Their sentences were backdated to September 2024, when they were first remanded, Utusan Malaysia reported.
All 22 had earlier today pleaded guilty to an alternative charge under Section 43 of the Societies Act 1966.
Nasiruddin, 66, and 12 other men were sentenced to 15 months’ jail. His wife, Azura Md Yusof, 58, and eight other women were fined RM4,500 each.
During proceedings at the Kajang prison court complex, judge Latifah Tahar said their guilty pleas and remorse were taken into account, and that the time already served was sufficient for their release.
