PETALING JAYA:

The home ministry is preparing a letter of acceptance for the procurement of two offshore patrol vessels by the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) under a new contractor, after the original contractor failed to complete the project.

Home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the appointment of the new contractor was approved by the finance ministry in a letter dated Aug 15.

“The home ministry is now preparing the letter of acceptance before the company starts work,” he said in a parliamentary reply to Nordin Ahmad Ismail (PN-Lumut), who asked for updates on the stalled project.
