Govt to decide whether to appeal Sabah revenue decision tomorrow

PETALING JAYA:

The federal government will decide tomorrow whether to appeal the High Court’s ruling that Putrajaya acted unlawfully by failing to honour Sabah’s 40% share of federal revenue for nearly five decades.

Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim said a special Cabinet meeting would be held tomorrow, Bernama reported.

Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS), a key party in the government, and several other quarters had urged Putrajaya against appealing the decision and to instead hold constructive engagements on the matter.

The GRS presidential council said it was ready to hold meaningful talks with Putrajaya in compliance with the court’s orders to review and finalise a new agreement on the 40% federal revenue share.
