Joey King has spoken up about her co-star Jacob Elordi’s criticism of The Kissing Booth franchise.
Elordi referred to the movie as “ridiculous”, saying,
“I didn’t want to make those movies before I made those movies. Those movies are ridiculous. They’re not universal. They’re an escape.”
King responds with,
“I think it’s unfortunate anyone would feel that way. I had a great time making those movies no matter what anyone says.” She also shares that, “If there were to be a fourth installment it would be picking up where Elle and the gang are in their 50s or something, just to drop back in with them and see where they’re at.”
The Kissing Booth explores the relationship between Elle (King) and Noah (Elordi), and how the budding relationship risks Elle’s friendship with Noah’s younger brother Lee. The film is based on a 2021 novel of the same name by Beth Reekles, and has spawned two sequels on Netflix.
