King calls for better moral, character development amid rising student crime

SHAH ALAM:

Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Ibrahim has expressed concern over recent serious criminal cases involving students, saying such incidents raise questions about their moral, religious and character development.

Sultan Ibrahim, who is also the chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM), said these cases had tarnished the image of the country’s educational institutions.

The king urged schools and educational institutions to emphasise humanity, morality, emotional control and awareness of the relevant laws in their lessons.

“Through this approach, we can cultivate a disciplined generation that respects one another,” Sultan Ibrahim said at UiTM’s 103rd convocation ceremony at the university here today.

Also gracing the event was Tengku Permaisuri Selangor, Tengku Permaisuri Norashikin, who is UiTM pro-chancellor.
