A shocking case out of East Kalimantan, Indonesia, has left both true-crime followers and anime fans reeling. In August, police arrested a 33-year-old man named Julius for allegedly murdering his wife and two young children, aged four and five, with a machete.
The story took an even darker and stranger turn when Julius claimed during police questioning that he was influenced by One Piece, the long-running Japanese manga and anime about pirates, friendship, and chasing dreams.
