No Malaysians reported affected by deadly quake in eastern Afghanistan

No Malaysian has been reported to be affected by the 6.0-magnitude earthquake in eastern Afghanistan late on Sunday that has killed at least 800 people and caused widespread damage.

The foreign ministry said it remained in close contact with local authorities in Pakistan and was monitoring the situation through the Malaysian high commission in Islamabad.

“Malaysians residing in or travelling to the affected areas in Pakistan are advised to remain vigilant, follow safety guidance issued by the local authorities, and stay informed through official channels.

“Those who have not registered their presence are strongly encouraged to do so through E-Konsular to ensure timely support and communication,” the ministry said in a media advisory today.
