PDRM Arrest 152 People Involved In Illegal Bets Placed For World Cup, Over RM3 Million Seized
It’s World Cup season and fans all over the world are excited to be supporting their teams, although not necessarily teams from their own countries.
As thrilling as it is to go head-to-head with your friends over who is going to win the match of day, some people forget that making bets are illegal.
The Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) have detained 152 individuals involved in online gambling activities coinciding with the Qatar World Cup football matches from 19-28 November, in an operation called Op Soga IX.
PDRM secretary Datuk Noorsiah Mohd Saaduddin said during the same period, police also seized credit limits in software frontends amounting to RM3,177,293.17, cash worth RM113,140, computers, mobile phones, and betting slips.
