Pipelayer gets 8 years’ jail, whipping for raping 15-year-old girlfriend
A pipelayer was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment and six strokes of the rotan by the Muar sessions court today after pleading guilty to raping his 15-year-old girlfriend last month.
Berita TV3 reported that judge Khairi Haron passed the sentence on Azman Jamian, 47, for three charges under Section 376(1) of the Penal Code for rape, with eight years and two strokes per charge, the jail sentences to be served concurrently.
According to the charges, Azman raped the victim at his home in Muar at 8.30am and 12.30pm on Sept 20 and Sept 24.
Section 376(1) provides for up to 20 years’ imprisonment and a whipping, upon conviction.
Based on the facts of the case, the victim’s mother lodged a police report after finding that her daughter had skipped school to go to Azman’s home, where the offences were committed.
