
The education ministry has defended the public university admission system, saying the multiple entry pathways are intended to accommodate students with different needs and capabilities.
Its minister Fadhlina Sidek said various entrance examination pathways such as Sijil Tinggi Persekolahan Malaysia (STPM), Sijil Tinggi Agama Malaysia (STAM), foundation programmes, and matriculation had been established to offer those who passed SPM a broader range of options, in line with their individual interests and abilities.
She said each of these pathways has its own academic structure and curriculum designed to cater to diverse student needs.
