Imagine if your favourite childhood toys were sentient. Wouldn’t they be your best-est BFFs?
Disney bought that premise with the Toy Story franchise, telling the story of toy owner Andy and his favourite toys — Woody, Buzz, and more! And with the third installment, Toy Story 3, the arc seems to draw to a poetic close as Andy grows up and parts with his buddies.
However, after Toy Story 3, another follow-up film was made — Toy Story 4, which follows the toys’ adventures for the first time without Andy.
“The third one is is just magnificent, and it’s one of the best movies I’ve ever seen…” explains Tarantino. “The thing is, three years later, or something like that, they did a fourth one and I have no desire to see it. You literally ended the story as perfect as you could, so no I I don’t care if it’s good I’m done.”
Many may argue that the existence of a fourth film lessens the impact of the third film, with a farewell that moved many to tears. But that’s totally up to you to judge!
And Disney has another Toy Story film up its sleeve — Toy Story 5, with a release planned for June 19, 2026!
