Renowned Penang Cartoonist Azmi Hussin Dies At 40

Penang-born artist and cartoonist Mohd Azmi Mohd Hussin, widely known as Azmi Hussin, passed away yesterday at the age of 40, reported the New Straits Times.

The cause of death remains unknown, though news reports revealed that he was recovering from a fall in December.

Tributes have poured in on social media, with Tourism Malaysia deputy chairman Datuk Yeoh Soon Hin among those expressing condolences.

“My condolences to Azmi Hussin, who returned to Allah’s mercy earlier this evening during Maghrib. He produced many works, especially mural arts around George Town.

“He also participated in various art projects and activities during my tenure as the State Tourism and Creative Economy Committee chairman. May his soul be showered with mercy and placed among the faithful,”…
