Sabah Man & His Puppy Stranded Across Swollen River For 36 Hours, Firemen Delivers Food Using Rope

As the flood situation in the north and north-east of Sabah continued to worsen, the district’s fire and rescue department had to use a highline rope to deliver food to a man and his puppy stranded in Perancangan Ranau.

According to Malay Mail, Leonard Lawrence, 42, had been trapped by rising waters specifically at Kg Takutan since noon on Sunday (2 Jan). When discovered, firemen were unable to carry out the rescue due to bad weather conditions and nightfall.

Fortunately, they managed to send in food using a high-line rope at about 10.40pm.

Leonard was left there for the night and when the weather eased earlier today (3 Jan), firemen managed to help him and his dog cross the river to safety.

Meanwhile, the number of people evacuated rose to 2,435 from 874 families and were placed at 23 flood relief centres.
